Green keep up winning run ... Thanet are next

The Under 15s maintained their superb end-of-season sequence of results with a 5-2 away win against Park Farm Rangers.  Steve Mailey reports from The Ridge:

Dave,

Park Farm 2 5 Bromley Green

With players away this trip to the Ridge meant us taking on
Park Farm with just 12 players. The goal keeper situation
was an issue yet again - Reece Cahalane agreeing to do the
honours this week to help the team. Reece will feel upset at
both Farms goals, although he dealt with most other things
well. As for Green, we played in patches to be fair. Our back
line dealt with most things, although we still panic a bit too
much! Midfield saw an impressive display from Pierzchala and
a workman like effort from Neil, whilst both Bugden, and later
Dalby, offered well from wide. Dan Churchley's usual work
rate earnt him two goals, and further strikes from Bugden
and Wall kept our noses in front. An impressive 35 yard effort
from Murrell beat the keeper for our fifth. Farms keeper was
unlucky in fairness, as a couple of his attempts prevented
the score line increasing earlier in the game. In all, a pleasing
display, although a little more thought would have seen us
wrap this one up much earlier. Man Of The Match went to
Aaron Neil for his efforts in midfield, although one or two
others were in contention. Well done to all.

George Wall double spurs Green to another win

Steve Mailey reports from a snow-hit Swan Ground

Dave,

Bromley Green 3  -  2 Ashford Colts

Played in a snow blizzard, the boys returned to action against

local side Ashford Colts. We began with a good tempo and kept

it up for most of the game. Hurst and Bugden kept cool heads

at the back, whilst Acott put in a fine display in midfield and

again later in defence. Neil created several openings from wide

and Churchley offered his usual work rate further forward. Yet

the star for the day was George Wall, who put in a superb display

in centre midfield. The best i've seen him play - and scoring twice

meant the Man of the Match award was a formality. In between

George's strikes came a goal for Dan Churchley. At 3-0 we were

very comfortable, but the bitter conditions meant several changes

to keep the lads warm, and it did affect our shape. Colts scored

two fairly late goals which resulted in us hitting the panic button.

Barton and Dalby stood firm in the closing minutes to ensure the

three points were ours. Much the better side and a well earned

win. Well done to all.

Steve Mailey reports to The Green Lane

Dave,

Bromley Green 1 0 Deal Town Rangers

Recent results achieved by Deal suggested this would be a close game. It was. A new look back four and goal keeper performed as if they'd been together all year. Murrell and Bugden slotted in well and Dalby kept goal without concern. Certain players are starting to do as i ask and its pleasing to see. Cahalane had his best game to date that i've seen out wide, and Churchley's work rate is a constant threat to defenders. A pleasing contribution from the bench by Pierzchala and Blowers using his size better added to the pressure we imposed on Deal. The goal came from a busy Ash Wojtowicz in the 1st half and we could easily have added to it. MoM went to Reece Murrell in defence for an assured display. The team effort was good after a couple of poor results and the spirit returned. Well done to all. Sunday: Green go down 4-0 at Betteshanger

Steve Mailey talks exclusively to The Green Lane

I had little joy in telling the boys at HT that i felt that was the
poorest i'd seen us play. We judged our opposition on reputation
& appearance rather than ability. The size difference was evident
yet again, but our lack of belief was the main concern. Coming in
at HT 0-3 was all we deserved. I asked them to close down more,
support team mates more, gamble more and make a game of it!
The response was terrific. Churchley and Murrell chased every ball
in attack, Cahalane and Blowers caused lots of problems wide, Neil
began to link defence and attack much more and O'Gorman never
missed a thing in defence all game, earning him MoM.
A penalty awarded against us in the closing minutes doesn't take
away our improvement between the two halves. Had we done those
things from the start, i'm convinced we would have had a much more
enjoyable game and probably a point or three.

Fitness tests for Wojtowicz and Murrell

The Green are hosts to local rivals Ashford Colts this Sunday (3 February) with a 2pm kick off. Late fitness tests for Ashley Wojtowicz and Reece Murrell will determine the line up as we look for a return to winning ways after two unlucky away defeats.

Sunday night report from Steve Mailey

"Dave,

Ashford Borough Colts 1 Bromley Green 0

As with last week, we came away thinking we should have got something from the game.  It was a very close fought game with very little between the sides.  Sadly our lack of height in the middle became our biggest problem.  In terms of attack, Jack Blowers caused problems from wide positions, Kieran John and Dan Churchley worked hard up front. The back line had another solid game, with Martyn Dalby and Jordan O'Gorman having near faultless displays.  The attitude was good and the lads know they were a little unlucky.  To see players showing frustration when narrowly beaten is a good sign of team spirit.

Green: Martin Bugden; Martyn Dalby, Joe Barton, Jordan O'Gorman, Jamie Hurst; Reece Calahane, Aaron Neil, Ashley Wojtowicz, George Wall; Dan Churchley, Keiran John. Subs used: Jack Blowers, Jack Acott, Krzysztof Pierzchala. Not used: Marcus Dalby

Man of the match: O'Gorman/Dalby (nothing between them)

Steve"

Happy Birthday!

Steve Mailey's Sunday Night update

Thanet Colts 3 - 1 Bromley Green

Losing out to the top side in the league shouldn't cause too many concerns, but we left the game feeling we were every bit as good as they are. In a game played in high winds, we started a little slow and conceded quite early, thanks to the wind. We then started to compete more and drew level thanks to a persistent run and cool finish from Dan Churchley. The wind can take credit for a freak goal, which sent us in at the break 1-2 down. The second half should have been our chance to take advantage of the wind, and although we got in and around their area a dozen times, we failed to get the rewards. Committing players forward resulted in us getting caught out and conceding the third. Reece Murrell worked hard until coming off injured; Dan offered his usual high work rate and the entire back four worked really well, with Martyn Dalby taking Man of the Match. Our midfield did little wrong, yet struggled against a very tall opposition. Generally pleased, although a little more composure and a little less arguing with officials may well have given us a share of the points at least.

Green: Martin Bugden / Martyn Dalby / Jordan O'Gorman / Joe Barton / Jamie Hurst George Wall / Aaron Neil / Ashley Wojtowicz / Jack Blowers Reece Murrell / Dan Churchley Subs used: Reece Calahan / Jack Acott Not used: Marcus Dalby
